Texting while
driving is very dangerous. Texting and driving is the act of sending
or reading text messages, surfing the web, looking at email, while
operating a motor vehicle. This causes some motor vehicle accidents
and some states have restricted or outlawed it. Texting and driving
leads to increased distraction behind the wheel.
Texting has become
a global problem. Ever since 2000, texting has made a huge leap due
to the fact that cell phones developed texting packages. That was
just the beginning then, as technology improved cellphones improved
from flip phones to smartphones where it mad texting easier, and
provided more ways of communication. The question that we fail to get
in today’s society is why is communication more important then
safety. I asked a couple of my peers why do they feel that way and
they all said; without texting or a source of communication via
cellphone, they feel like they are missing out on something. Studies
show texting while driving is life-threating accidents because of
lack of driver focus.
This is a very informative post Isaiah. I also believe that people as a whole are becoming somewhat addicted to their electronic devices. There have been studies that show the effects on the brain when a person is detached from their phone or tablet to be similar to those of a person experiencing withdrawal from an addictive drug.
ReplyDeleteI agree with this post because as your attention is focused on the composition and searching for grammatical errors in the text, you're reaction time is either too early or too late. I have found myself braking too early while my eye looks down. Fortunately, I have not been in an accident up to this point, and hope not to be in the future.
ReplyDeleteI believe texting and driving is very dangerous. I have seen studies that show you can only concentrate on one thing at a time so it's impossible to concentrate on texting and driving at the same time. accidents are increasingly being caused by texting at a more alarming rate than drinking and driving. More laws need to be passed to prohibit texting and driving.. More and more states are making an effort to put an end to it.
ReplyDeleteCell phone companies definitely need to do more research on how they can change the habit of drivers who feel the need to send text messages at the same time. The safety risk are clear and most drivers choose to ignore those risk.
ReplyDeleteI understand the point of view of your peers, but the safety of others and yourself is more important than minor informational we may miss out on. I personally feel that it should be banned by all 50 states. The reality is that cars were invented before cellular devices. If people of the past could operate motor vehicles without the distraction of a phone, why can't we?
ReplyDeleteTexting and driving is one of the most dangerous things an individual can do. Most people no longer have focus on the road when they begin to text and drive. I believe cell phones are useful in life, but people should know when to use the phone an not use the phone. More importantly, I am happy that certain states are passing laws and giving fines for people who text and drive. This would prevent a lot of accidents and allow people to maintain focus while behind the wheel. Overall, this blog was beneficial to people knowing the importance of keep focus while behind the wheel.
ReplyDeleteI believe that some drivers underestimate how dangerous driving is and how cautious one needs to be while driving. One minor mistake of trying to multitask (such as eating or texting), not paying attention, changing a song/radio station, reaching for something can cause an accident. That accident could lead to taking someone's life and possibly your own. I can admit this was something I had to stop doing after one of my close friends got into a car accident because he was texting and didn't see that the driver in front of him made a sudden stop. Luckily everyone didn't have any major injuries.
ReplyDeleteIt's important to know that that message can wait. And if it can't, there are technologies out there such as siri on the iPhone, or systems built in cars that can send texts, and read them through your cars audio system

Texting is very dangerous to while both walking and driving. Also I would like to add the fact that texting is becoming more "needed" to people at all times. It is not only the sound of a new text messages that people cant get around but now the sound of a new tweet or insatgram like. This makes people feel as though they have to respond right away, thus making them add posts, like pictures, and text while driving. Sadly, however, I think this cant not be slowed downed. The need to feel in the "on" crowd is a must in todays society.
